Our two-way radios are professional 4W UHF units, licenced by Ofcom and not the same as the 'Family Radio' radios often seen advertised in shops etc.
These radios have a range dependent on local conditions; in a typical large hotel constructed from concrete, metal etc. a radio repeater would be recommended in order to achieve coverage over the entire building and surrounding areas; but on open ground with no obstructions these radios have an excellent range. With a radio repeater we have achieved communications across a 13 mile distance (this would give a total of 26 miles range in absolutely ideal conditions.. however this was achieved with the benefit of hills and clear ground, and a distance of 2 miles would be more typical in an urban setting. These radios are hired out under Ofcom licence conditions.
